Behind Grandpa's Recipes

Hi, I'm Antonio. The grandfather behind these recipes

You see, I've been cooking for as long as I can remember. In my house, the kitchen was always the heart of the home. My mother used to say that "where there's a smell of stew, there's a smell of family," and boy, was she right. I grew up watching her stir steaming pots with a wooden spoon, learning that good things take time and that the secret to a good dish lies in the love with which it's prepared.

Now retired and with more time in the kitchen than ever, I spend my days experimenting, improvising, and perfecting recipes. In the mornings, I go to the market, choose the freshest produce, and return home with an idea of what I'm going to prepare. A classic stew, some seasonal vegetables, a dessert that reminds me of my childhood… Cooking is my way of keeping tradition alive.

But I have to confess something: my grandchildren have opened the doors to a whole new world for me. Every time we go out to eat together, they take me to different places. "Grandpa, today we're having Mexican," "Grandpa, we've found a fantastic Japanese place," "Grandpa, how about trying an Indian curry?" And me, being curious by nature, I just go along with it.

The problem (or the blessing) is that when I try something I like, I don't stop until I can make it at home. I sit down, analyze it, research it, experiment… and after several attempts (and the occasional disaster), I finally come up with my own version. Because eating out is great, but nothing beats making it yourself with real ingredients and taking the time the dish needs.

The thing is, one day my grandson Miguel Ángel came to our house for lunch, tried my chicken curry, and said to me, "Grandpa, this is meant to be shared. People need to know these recipes." And that's how "Grandpa's Recipes" was born, between the two of us.

He's the one who understands computers, the one who shapes all this, and the one who posts my recipes here. I only know how to cook and tell stories. But together we've managed to create this little corner where I share what I know: homemade, traditional recipes, the kind we've always known, and also those versions of foreign dishes that my grandchildren have taught me to love.

Here you won't find strange technical jargon or impossible ingredients. Just fresh produce, simple steps, and years of experience behind every dish.

So, you know what to do: come on in, put on your apron, and cook with me. Because, as I always say, the best recipe is the one made with the desire to share.
